Transport

Two weekly Airlink flights serve Saint Helena from Johannesburg on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Entry conditions

Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter Saint Helena. For more information, click here: evisa.sainthelena.gov.sh/

Accommodation

The island has many accommodation options. It has three hotels, the Mantis, Wellington House and the Consulate in Jamestown and numerous B&Bs and holiday homes in Jamestown and across the island.

Communications

SIM cards are available at the airport or in Jamestown at the SURE office, fax, telegram and Internet services are available but are very expensive.

Health

Jamestown has a general hospital and a dental clinic. Non-residents of Saint Helena pay higher costs.

Visiting Napoleonic sites

Price of ticket for Longwood House and the Tomb (single ticket for both sites) = £10 – £5 for the Briars Pavilion.

Opening hours of the French national properties :
• for Longwood House, Monday to Friday 11:00am to 1:00pm
• for Napoleon’s Tomb, Monday to Friday 09:00pm to 3:00pm
• for the Briars Pavilion, Mondays and Fridays only 10:00am to 11:00am

It is possible to visit outside opening times by prior arrangement. Contact BEPSP@helanta.co.sh. The base price for private visits is £150. A supplement of £10 per additional person will be applied for groups of more than six.
